What you actually get
Most downloaders promise 1080p and 4K on the front page without saying where it comes from. Here is the honest version, short enough to print.
- 720p is the largest ready-made fileFor standard videos xHamster publishes progressive MP4 files at 144p, 240p, 480p and 720p, and that is the whole ladder. We checked one whose source is 3840 × 2160 and it still tops out at 720p — the higher renditions exist only inside an adaptive stream. VR titles are the exception and go much higher.
- Above 720p, your browser builds it1080p and 4K exist on xHamster only as an adaptive stream — hundreds of four-second fragments with no single file behind them. Where a video has one, we list it anyway: your browser fetches the fragments straight from xHamster and joins them into an MP4 on your own machine. It takes a minute or two, the size shown is an estimate rather than a measurement, and nothing passes through our server on that path either.
- VR is the exception, upwardVR titles break the 720p rule. They publish progressive files far larger — we measured one at 3840 x 1920, 487 MB for eight minutes. If you paste a VR link you get those renditions, not a refusal.
- The quality list is often hiddenOn most videos xHamster no longer publishes its download list openly — the page carries the same files with their addresses scrambled. We unscramble them, so you get the full ladder rather than the single low-quality file the page happens to load.
- Links go staleThe links xHamster generates expire on their own — we measured just under four hours, and they are pinned to a clock boundary so the real figure varies. To avoid hammering xHamster we hold the parsed result, links included, for 30 minutes and then drop it. Nothing is kept longer than that.
- Nothing is uploadedYou never send us a file, and you never sign in. The link you paste is the only thing this site receives from you.
Where the file comes from
When you press a quality, your browser fetches that file directly from xHamster’s own servers and writes it to your disk. The bytes do not pass through this site. That is not a privacy claim we are making about ourselves — it is simply how the transfer is wired, and you can watch it happen in your browser’s network panel.
One exception, stated because it matters: on iPhone and iPad, Safari will not save a file fetched this way, so those devices fall back to a relay on our server. On that path — and only that path — the video does travel through us. Nothing is written to disk and nothing is logged, but you should know which of the two routes you are on.
On each device
iPhone and iPad
Press a quality. Safari hands the file to its Downloads list — tap the arrow in the address bar to see it. From Files you can move it into Photos if you want it in your camera roll.
Android
Press a quality. Chrome saves to the Downloads folder and shows a bar at the bottom of the screen. The file lands in Internal storage › Download.
Desktop
Press a quality. The browser fetches the file and writes it wherever your downloads go. It is held in memory until the fetch completes, which is nothing for a 92 MB 720p file — only the much larger stream builds are worth thinking about.
Do I need an account?
No — not here and not on xHamster. Everything this tool reads is on the public video page. If a video is private or age-gated behind a login, we cannot read it either, and you get a message saying exactly that rather than a spinner that never stops.
Can I download xHamster VR videos?
Yes. VR titles are the one place xHamster publishes renditions well above 720p — we measured a VR file at 3840 x 1920, 487 MB for an eight-minute clip, and the tool hands you the full ladder for them.
Two things to expect. The files are large, so check the size before starting on a phone. And a VR file is a flat stereoscopic image until a player knows how to project it — most players will show it distorted unless you tell them it is 180 or 360 degree footage.
Why do some videos show fewer qualities?
On most videos xHamster now hides its download list and scrambles the file addresses inside the player instead. This tool unscrambles them, which is why you normally see the full ladder up to 720p even when the page itself only loads a 480p file.
A handful of videos still expose just one rendition, and a very small number expose none at all. In both cases you get what actually exists rather than an invented option.
Can I download in 1080p or 4K?
Often, yes — but not as a ready-made file, because xHamster does not store one. Those resolutions exist only as an adaptive stream: hundreds of four-second fragments behind a playlist. Where a video has one, it appears in the list as a row tagged “stream”, and saving it makes your browser fetch those fragments straight from xHamster and join them into an MP4 on your machine. Nothing passes through our server, which is why the size shown is an estimate from the stream’s bitrate rather than a measured figure.
A 1080p or 4K row only appears when the video actually has that rendition. Most videos top out at 720p and show four plain rows instead.
Expect a minute or two rather than an instant save. It also needs memory — measured at roughly twice the finished size while it works, so a 4K build wanting close to a gigabyte can ask for around two. Use a desktop browser for those; a phone will usually give up. If it does, take a row without the tag: those are real files and download instantly.
